Gingerbread
Good any time of year, not just for Christmas

Ingredients:
125g Butter
125g Soft Brown Sugar
1 Medium Egg
4 Tbsp golden Syrup
350g Plain Flour
1/2 tsp Bi Carb Soda
1 Tbsp Ground Ginger
1 Tsp ground Cinnamon
Basic Cost to make: Approx £ TBC
Equipment:
Stand mixer with beater attachment or a hand whisk
Scales
Lined Baking trays
Bowl/cup
Cling film
Rolling pin and cutters
Cooling racks
Method:
Line cookie/baking trays with baking paper and set aside.
Preheat oven to 170c (fan)
Sift together flour, bi Carb, & spices into a large bowl.
Add butter and mix to breadcrumb consistency.
Stir in the sugar
In a small bowl or cup, lightly beat together the egg and golden syrup then add to the dry mix.
Pulse to make a dough
Wrap in clingfilm and chill for 15mins in the fridge
Roll out to 1/2cm thick and cut to desired shapes. gather offcuts together and repeat until everything is used up.
Place on baking tray and bake for 15mins
Allow to cool on the tray and firm up.
Store in airtight container or tin.


Notes:
To decorate you can use chocolate or royal icing
